These weights are posted on the Team GA Website at www.teamgeorgiawrestling.com No wrestling &up* allowed in age 每 wrestlers may wrestle up one (1) weight from their normal body weight if desired. This rule is based on USA Wrestling insurance policy, and is not an option for the state association to override. A wrestler must wrestle the same weight at both the qualifiers and state tournament. Failure to make qualifier weight at the state tournament will result in disqualification. Weigh-In Attire: A wrestler MUST weigh-in in either a 1) singlet or 2) shirt/shorts at all official weigh-ins. The singlet or short/shirt policy will be enforced. This is an official USA Wrestling Policy, and is enforced at all regional/national events. Once the wrestler has entered the weigh in area they will not be allowed to leave. Wrestlers will have 3 total opportunities to weigh in. The procedure is: A wrestler will step on the scale one time. If they make weight, they are finished. If a wrestler does not make weight the first time, they may step off the scales, reset the scales, and then step back on. This is their second attempt. If a wrestler makes weight they are finished. If a wrestler does not make weight the second time, they may request to weigh on the challenge scales. The wrestler will be allowed to weigh on the challenge scales for their third and final attempt. If they make weight they are finished. If not, the wrestler will be deemed to not have made weight. At qualifier, the wrestler will not have the option of moving up to the next weight class. They must make the weight that they pre-registered for or they will be disqualified from the tournament. At the state tournament, if the wrestler does not make the weight they wrestled at qualifier, they will be disqualified from the tournament. A set of check scales will be provided at the qualifier and state tournaments outside the officialweigh in areas. A copy of the USA Weight Cutting Policy will be posted prominently at all qualifiers and state events. Strict adherence to this policy is required. Violators will be reported to the Team GA representative and at the discretion of the Team GA representative may be banned from the tournament. No parents or coaches will be allowed in the official weigh-in area. Team GA will mandate taped laces, headgear and mouth guards for wrestlers with braces, at all ※official§ state events (qualifiers and state tournament). Only coaches with bronze level or higher certification will be allowed on the floor at qualifier and state tournaments. Top 3 places for each weigh class and age group will qualify for the state tournaments. The wild card will be the 4th place finisher from the largest bracket for that age and weight group from the 5 qualifiers. In the event that there are 5 or less wrestlers in a bracket at any qualifier we will wrestle round robin for placement. Please keep in mind that there may be more wrestlers at the other qualifiers that will factor into the state tournament bracket. After wrestling the round robin the placement of the qualifier will be determined. Second Place Challenge Rule: If a wrestler places 3rd in a bracket with 6 or more wrestlers, and IF that wrestlers only loss is to the 1st place finisher, the 3rd place finisher will be able to challenge the 2nd place finisher for ※True 2nd§. The winner of the Challenge Match will be awarded 2nd place and the loser 3rd. If the 2nd place finisher leaves immediately after the winners bracket championship and is unavailable for the Challenge Match, he/she will forfeit and the 2 places will be reversed. The 2nd place winner will have up to 15 minutes to return for the Challenge Match before forfeiting his/her runner-up status. Team GA will fill empty brackets with eligible wild card wrestlers if there are not enough entries to fill a bracket. You must finish in the top 4 to be eligible. Team GA will only use 4th place finisher to fill a bracket. Medals will be awarded for 1-4th place at each qualifier.
